About the Firm
A Law Firm Committed to Protecting the Rights of Workers
Workers have rights. Unfortunately, time and time again, there are employers who fail to observe the rights of the very people who provide the life blood of their business. Time and time again, action needs to be taken to set these employers straight.
We are the ones that take action.
Edward Newman, Ray Marsh and Manual Furtado, three 1951 graduates University of California, Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law, founded the law offices of Newman, Marsh & Furtado in 1952. Since the inception, Newman, Marsh & Furtado championed the rights of working class people who had been injured through no fault of their own and have fought and won against large insurance companies, major corporations, governmental entities and agencies. Newman, Marsh & Furtado’s practices included automobile and pedestrian accidents, workplace injuries and insurance claims. The firm had a proven track record of winning awards and favorable settlements for their personal injury clients. Newman, Marsh & Furtado located its offices in a historic house on Prospect Hill in Hayward, becoming part of the history of Alameda County.
In the 1970s, Newman, Marsh & Furtado hired the second generation of lawyers to continue its proud legacy. Martin L. Jaspovice and Rick Simons were also graduates of the University of California, Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law. Mr. Jaspovice and Mr. Simons continued the tradition of representing the working class to winning awards and favorable settlements. When Ray Marsh was appointed to serve as a Judge in 1975 and Edward Newman in 1977, Mr. Furtado, Mr. Jaspovice and Mr. Simons established Furtado, Jaspovice & Simons. Furtado, Jaspovice & Simons’ practices included automobile and pedestrian accidents, medical malpractice, contested wills and trust and clergy abuse cases in Northern California. Mr. Jaspovice and Mr. Simons are experienced trial lawyers, advising and teaching other attorneys regarding legal strategies, tactics, and ethics. For over a decade, Mr. Jaspovice and Mr. Simons have been named Super Lawyers each and every year. Mr. Simons was chosen as 2006 California Attorney of the Year (personal injury) by California Lawyer magazine.
In the new millennium, Furtado, Jaspovice & Simons hired Suizi O. Lin, a graduate of Loyola Law School Los Angeles and Rica Cruz-Santo, a graduate of the University of San Francisco, School of Law. Under the guidance of Mr. Jaspovice and Mr. Simons, Ms. Lin and Ms. Cruz-Santo became well versed in the firm’s legacy and philosophy of representing individuals, families and small businesses. Working alongside Mr. Jaspovice and Mr. Simons and on their own, Ms. Lin and Ms. Cruz-Santo have won many verdicts, settlements, and arbitration awards against large insurance companies and governmental entities and agencies. In 2010, Mr. Jaspovice, Mr. Simons, Ms. Lin and Ms. Cruz-Santo established the third generation of the firm by forming the law partnership, Lin Santo LLP. Lin Santo LLP represents the same clients in actions for injury or wrongful death, elder abuse, sexual abuse or harassment in the work place.
For more than five decades, the attorneys at the law firm of Lin & Santo, LLP, in joint venture with Furtado Jaspovice & Simons have served as advocates for the rights of employees in Hayward and throughout Northern California.
